Frugal and Free

1. This concept of frugality has been weighing heavily on me all week.
2. I greatly appreciate the comments left by my married friends. Thanks for your encouragement!
3. I did something frugal today. I cashed in on a coupon I'd received for free Victoria's Secret underwear. I felt stupid walking out without buying anything, but hey, that's $7.50!
4. I realized one very real way I have been investing in frugality for the last 5.5 years. I work for Williams-Sonoma...and we get free stuff! Today, I picked up my free bread knife and got to pick out the Le Creuset pot that I won. I was so excited! I've been wanting a LC pot forever but never enough to purchase one. So, is earning $220 in free product being frugal? I think so...

Yes you should, Lains - it expires this weekend. Yeah for tag-less cotton! :)

Yes. It's totally being frugal. Remember what we once said -- that we had the modern hopechest and were a great pick because we had a degree AND a Kitchen Aid mixer. :)

I know that Kc and I will enjoy the quality things that I've acquired the years working at WS (and my years pale in comparison to yours)and it will enable us to get a better start in setting up home. Instead of having to buy (or ask) for some many essentials, we can put our energies elsewhere, like furniture or something like that.

I love you, sis. I love reading your thoughts. You make me smile.

I cashed in the VS coupon too - I think saving $7.50 counts as frugal! Actually my mother in law got a coupon too, and VS is not her style, so I got to cash hers in as well. :)

Which Le Creuset pot did you get? I really want their dutch oven sized pot.

I think buying really good quality things (especially kitchen things) is frugal, even if they cost more initially, because they last longer, work better, and thus save you having to pay to replace them later on. And if you're getting them free or at a discount by working at WS, that's even MORE frugal! You go girl! :)

Catherine,

I'm getting this one:

I really want a 5.5 or 7 qt round oven sometime, but this will work for now. Last week at work, we baked bread in the pot - I had no idea you could do that. It was crusty like good European bread.
