Amy mentions this article in her blog. It is incredible and highly worth reading. I fully agree with what it says and it saddens me that is so true. Women today are not "ladies" and it disappoints me greatly. I consider myself a lady and that is the reputation I wish bear. For someone to call me a lady is an enormous compliment, not "you woman!" Unfortunate as well, is that men refuse to be masculine or take pride in genteel manhood. But then why should they when their doting women cannot respect themselves as ladies. If my sex can't enjoy their feminine identity, what's there for the man to respect in them? Where there is no respect, there is no action. I wish my sex hadn't given femininity such a bad name. There are very few men left in this world who can recongnize a true lady or appreciate her pearl-like value. In other words, finding men who are worthy of marrying ladies are becoming a rare find. And for the kindly masculine gent, there are fewer rubies to bear their pride.

Another interesting commentary on this subject is a book by Gladys Hunt called "Ms. Means Myself." I recommend it, if you can find it. I believe it's out of print.

Grades are going to be scary this year. I think I've done well in everything (minus of course Dr. Briscoe's class), then I remind myself that I actually didn't go to class a lot. Oops. For instance, this morning I didn't want to waste my time in Human Growth and Development class. I already have the final in my bag, so she wasn't going to cover anything that might be on it. She doesn't know me from Eve, so my absence wouldn't be missed. It seemed positively pointless to attend. But then I was trying to count up how many times I've thought that through the semester... But then the classes which really count like theory and music history, I've been there. Missed three of theory, and one of music history. Oh dear, but like a quarter of aural skills class. That actually might hurt me some, but then, it is only a one hour class.

I think my idleness has been a bad influence. Anna admits she gets her quizes off my blog. Yikes! I should not encourage such a contagious waste of time!

Could someone tell me why my blog just randomly decided to center itself? And Nate, are you going to fix my commenting system for me?

Lipid
You are a lipid. You know whom you like and whom
you hate, and you like hanging out with people
who think like you do. People who disagree with
you annoy you to no end. You either love
Abercrombie and Fitch or you despise it, but
there's no middle ground. You're polar.

Your soul is bound to the Solitary Rose: The
Alone.

"When I wake up alone, the shades are still
drawn on the cold window pane so they cast
their lines on my bed and lines on my
face."

The Solitary Rose is associated with loneliness,
melancholy, and patience. It is governed by
the goddess Merope and its sign is The Sword,
or Unrequited Love.

As a Solitary Rose, you may be summed up as a
hopeless romantic. You desire love and have so
much love to give, but thing just never seem to
work out the way you want them to. In life,
you can be very optomistic, even when things
are gray and nothing works out to your
expectations.

My inner child is six years old!

Look what I can do! I can walk, I can run, I can
read! I like to do stuff, and there's a whole
big world out there to do it in. Just so long
as I can take my blankie and my Mommy and my
three best friends with me, of course.

Country Quiz

Ha ha! I just finished take a silly quiz on this site. In my exploration of the quiz, um or just seeing what happens if you click different answer each time, I find my country type ranges from India, to Sweden, to Mozambique or something. Basically, I can be a very diverse person. The funny thing though, the last set of questions I answer, and my country result is TEXAS. Ok, now. You gotta admit. That's funny!!!

You're Texas!

You aren't really much of your own person, but everyone around
you wishes you'd go away, so you might as well be independent.  You're
sort of loud-mouthed and abrasive, but you do have a fair amount of power.  You
like big trucks, big cattle, and big oil rigs.  And sometimes you really
smell.  But it's not all bad, you're big enough to have some soft spots
somewhere in all that redneck madness.

Not quite all girl?

I found out in class today (thanks to a personality test) that I'm "nearly feminine." I barely made it past the cut off for being "androgynous." Should I be seriously frightened?

Happy 24th Birthday, Megan! I love you!

Thankgiving Rewind and Unwind

As our family gathered around the Thanksgiving table this year with hands linked and heads bowed, my dad brought up a strangely comforting point concerning giving thanks. He reminded us all that the Pilgrims did not gather to thank God for "good" blessings. They had suffered tragedy, death, hunger, cold, lonliness, and hardship. Imagine what it must have been like to first suffer scorn in your homeland, where going to a completely new land was actually better than staying home. What faith it took! Picture books make the scene look so glossy, the corn so yummy, and the territory so friendly. The point is... they gave thanks inspite of their situation! Paul understood it when he said we were to give thanks in all things. That can sound so trite when lightly used, but it couldn't be closer to the truth. In easy made America today, we tend to be thankful for only the good things, because we know so many of them. When are we truly thankful for the hard things that come our way? I'm not even talking about monstrously destructive events like tornadoes, cancer, or bankruptcy. What about the broken relationship, or the difficult coworker, or the professor whose vocabulary doesn't include "fair and unbias"? It might not be on the level of Pilgrim suffering, but it doesn't matter. God made the Pilgrims suffer for His own reasons, and for the same, He brings you through what He wants you to experience. Simply because He is in control, the only response we can give is "thank you."

Mozart mumblings

It's been a while since I entered new text into my blog page. Some people have been breathing down my neck about it. Gee... I didn't know anyone actually read it! So I guess that's a compliment. I'm in the middle of researching the Mozart Effect, or rather, "how to raise a smart baby via music." I'ts only ten till one and it feels like it should be nearing three a.m. This studying until late hours is getting old quickly. Especially when its on subjects that don't really seem to extend Christ's kingdom any faster or better. Well, the Mozart thing is actually something I'm interested in, so we'll excuse that. But as for Digital Arts... an argument could definitely be made about wasting precious time on that final!
